The State of Alaska began to record deaths from the year 1913. Infant mortality rate in the state is 6.45, as per the census taken in 2005. It ranks 12th in US for increased number of deaths in accidents.  Alaska death records contain information, such as the name of the deceased person, date of death, place of death, sex, name of the father and mother of the deceased person and the name of the physician who attended the death. Sometimes, the place of residence and the maiden name of the mother are also included in the death certificate.

Alaska death records can be applied for by the father or mother of the deceased person, spouse, siblings, children or grand children. Death records are indispensable for settling the affairs of the family members of the deceased person. Insurance companies and Social security administration require a copy of the death certificate as a proof of death. The individuals can apply for the death certificate in person, by mail and via online. They need to provide the details like their full, address and driver license number. Payment can be made using credit card with some additional fee.
