Information about Hawaii
Aloha State

Capital: Honolulu

Hawaii is the newest of the 50 United States, and is also the only state made up exclusively by islands, all of which were formed by volcanic activity. The Hawaiian term 'Aloha' means both hello and goodbye in the native language, which has given the state its suitable nickname of The Aloha State.

Apart from the lush landscape and pristine beaches, Hawaii is also full of a rich and significant history. It was only 1959 when it finally became a state. Pearl Harbor was the location that the Japanese attacked America and in turn, brought the US into World War II. The most recent addition to important Hawaiian history is Hawaiian-born Barack Obama, the only US President to hail from the Aloha State.

Hawaii is able to claim a handful of bragging rights, including being the only state that grows coffee, being completely surrounded by water, having its own time zone, and has the highest life expectancy in America, as well as the fewest amount of overweight people.
