Idaho marriage records can be obtained only by the persons named on the certificate, children of the registrants, parents of the registrants or the legal representative of the registrants. According to Idaho law, step relatives, great grandparents and in-laws are not immediate relatives, so they cannot apply for the copy of the marriage record.

The person who wants to obtain Idaho marriage papers, should provide sufficient information, such as name of the husband, name of wife, including her maiden name, date of event and place in which the event occurred. He/she should specify how the registrant is related to him/her and for what purpose he/she requires the marriage certificate. Sometimes, the proof of relation may be needed. The requestor needs to provide his address, ID and daytime telephone number. He/she can make payment via check or money order.
