Iowa Public Info

There are many reasons why someone might request Iowa death records. The primary reason in most cases is evidence as the certificate of death will be used to take care of things like relatives requiring access to the deceased’s bank accounts or property. Another situation where death certificates might be used is in genealogy research. Iowa as a state is many hundreds of years old. Many Native American tribes roamed and lived here and the state has also seen its share of European exploration and colonization.

There are plenty of people are have their roots going back as far as this and wish to trace their family origins through the means of officially recorded birth, death and marriage data.

Of course this kind of information has been officially maintained by the state only from 1st July 1880. The department in charge of registering and maintaining these records is the Iowa Department of Public Health which has the Bureau of Vital Statistics which is specifically responsible for accurately maintaining all birth, death, marriage and death records. Because they are very precise in their record keeping, besides going there in person, one can also apply via the internet or phone or even regular mail.
