Information about Louisiana
Pelican State

Capital: Baton Rouge

It was in late August of 2005 that Louisiana got struck with one of the most devastating natural disasters in all of US history. Hurricane Katrina claimed the lives of more than 1,500 residents and displaced hundreds of thousands. Breached levees flooded almost the entire city of New Orleans.

Today, the Bayou State has made a tremendous turnaround since Katrina; tourism has bounced back in New Orleans, and the New Orleans Saints were crowned Super Bowl Champions of 2009, making a positive moral impact on its residents. Once housing the displaced and homeless, the Louisiana Superdome can now proudly boast being the home field of a prosperous NFL team.

Aside from Mardi Gras and The Saints, Louisiana also attracts many visitors due to its multicultural environment, up-and-coming film industry, and Creole cuisine. The state is currently the largest producer of crawfish in the world, which makes for a promising economy.
