Information about New Mexico
Land of Enchantment

Capital: Santa Fe

As a state strong in Latin American origin, New Mexico is home to the greatest percentage of Hispanics than any other US State. As a whole, there are almost 2 million residents living in New Mexico, with half a million living in the largest city of Albuquerque.

Made out of adobe, the oldest standing church in the United States is located in Santa Fe. Southwest symbols are prevalent throughout this Land of Enchantment, especially in local markets and museums. The largest and oldest Native American art showcase in the world is held annually in Santa Fe; Native American culture still plays an important role in New Mexico, and Pueblo Indians can still be found living in pueblos throughout the land.

The famous Georgia O’Keeffe found her artistic influence in the rural Southwest, particularly the New Mexico area where she took a permanent residence in 1949,  and where her ashes were then scattered upon her death in 1986.
