North Carolina is a State located in the Southern United States. Its capital is Raleigh. A large state, with population of 9,380,884 (2009), it is ranked as the 10th populous state in the US.

According to research the divorce rate in North Carolina has been steadily declining. In 1990 the divorce rate per 1000 people was 5.1, which saw a steady decline up till 2005, when it dropped to 3.8 per 1000 people.

To access the North Carolina divorce certificates, you must contact the NC Department of Health and Human Services. They keep all the vital records including, birth, death, marriage divorce etc. For a fee of $24 per copy and $15 per extra copy, you can avail the divorce certificate. Divorce certificates from the year 1958 till present are available with the department. For North Carolina divorce papers prior to 1958, you may contact the county clerk of court where the divorce took place.

Divorce records are not open to everyone. You must have proper authorization to access certified copies. Identity and eligibility proof are obligatory.
