Oregon Public Info

The Center for Health Statistics or CHS of Oregon is the office which manages the vital domestic records and it is the body responsible for issuing Oregon birth records, death records and certificates. It is also the body that compiles and analyses all these records. The records maintained by this office, which may include Oregon birth records, death records, marriage or divorce records and so on, are considered as “primary sources.” The data can hence be used for different secondary purposes such as measuring benchmarks, research and human services outcomes, etc.

Certificates or vital documents for Oregon birth and death papers are available and indexed since the year 1903. Oregon marriage and divorce records, however, are available for days only since 1906 and 1925 each. These records can also be studied as collective data. There are databases and analyses online which are in the form of abstract charts. They can be very useful in researching and observing trends. However, complete, authentic and comprehensive data is generally with the government.

Oregon, which is the 9th largest state of the United States, has seen a steady growth in population and as of the year 2008, the population is estimated to be a little over 3.8 million.
