Wisconsin is a state located in the north-central United States. According to research a total of 17150 divorces occurred in Wisconsin in the year 2003. Divorce rate being 3.1 per 1000 population. This was slightly less than 2002 rate of 3.2 Fifty four percent of all the divorces in Wisconsin involved children under 18 years of age. But in 2005 it saw a slight dip in divorce rate at 3.0

Wisconsin divorce records are preserved by The Wisconsin Vital Records Office, which comes under The Wisconsin Department of Health Services. All records since October 1907 are available with the office. A particular amount is charged as search fee and for the first copy. Any extra copy requested at the same time has to be purchased with an extra fee per copy. According to rules, photo identification is mandatory. If you wish to obtain certified Wisconsin divorce certificates, then you must be either the person on record, a spouse of the person on record, parent, sibling, or a child of the person on record or you must have written authorization.

Certified Wisconsin divorce papers will have a raised seal, with the signature of the State Registrar printed on Security paper. A certified copy could be useful to remarry or to change your last name.
